AMPLIFY: The SE Idea Amplification Workshop is a one-day, fully facilitated workshop co-located with ICSE 2027 in Dublin. This site receives idea seeds: three-page conversation starters that frame a problem, a paradox, or an opportunity in software engineering. A seed is meant to be transformed, not defended, and it is neither a miniature paper nor a project proposal.
Idea seed submission deadline: 13 November 2026, AoE. Curation notification: 11 December 2026. The workshop takes place on one day between 25 and 27 April 2027, and the exact date is confirmed in December 2026.
Read the full call, the five curation criteria, the seed template and the guidance note on the workshop site: conf.researchr.org/home/icse-2027/amplify-2027.
What to prepare: a PDF of at most three pages, inclusive of figures and references, with author names and affiliations visible. Curation is not anonymous. Every seed receives written developmental feedback from at least two Creative Directors, whether or not it enters the curated portfolio.
Curation decides participation in the workshop. It is not peer review and it does not decide publication. Manuscripts developed from the workshop blueprints are submitted to a dedicated manuscript type at IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering and undergo standard, selective, independent review there. Participation in the workshop does not guarantee acceptance.
Attendance is closed: only the authors of curated seeds take part in the working sessions, and the room is capped at 40 participants. At least one author of each curated seed is expected to register for ICSE 2027 and attend in person. Following ICSE policy, the organisers and their directly supervised students do not submit idea seeds.
